Tips for Selling eBooks

Writing an e-book is just the first step. No one will buy it, unless the writer effectively markets the book. There are several simple tips to increase the exposure of ones e-book to the public and thus increase the number of sales made.

Perhaps the first step would be to create a web site devoted to the author's works. This can be a promotional site for both e-books and ones other published efforts. Ensure that the web site is clearly defined and rich in key words concerning the subject of the e-book. Posting the site to the various major and minor search engines will help to ensure that browsers can find it. A link on the site to the secured purchasing page for the e-book is vital. It should go without repeating that all links will need to be live and lead to the right pages. Frequent updates to the site will encourage visitors to return many times in the future, increasing the chances that they will make a purchase of the e-book.

Another means of selling ones e-book is to have a blog on the author's web site. This blog provides visitors with news about the writer's works as well as a taste of his style. Keep the blog in line with the content of the e-book to encourage more search engine driven traffic.

Once people are at the web site a sample of the content of the e-book should be made available. This lets readers browse through some of the pages in the same manner they would in a bookstore. This simple practice greatly increases sales.

Selling an e-book can be a profitable effort if the previous tips are followed.
